The Museum «Okolnyi Castle» is a newly established tourist attraction, created through the restoration of nationally significant architectural monuments: the Towers of the Czartoryski Princes with a section of the defensive wall and the Jesuit Monastery with its dungeons.
The Czartoryski Tower is the only surviving of the four stone towers that once formed part of the grand castle complex in Lutsk. It broadens the modern perception of Lutsk Castle, revealing a much larger historical and territorial context.
A major highlight of the Museum «Okolnyi Castle» is the iconic Lutsk dungeons. This creative museum environment features 18 excavated rooms and 4 hallways. There are unique exhibitions such as the Gallery of Chivalry, a display of the Jesuit Collegium’s educational process, and a multimedia system with a smart interactive panel, virtual reality headsets, a silicone figure of a Jesuit monk, and a ghost hologram.
We invite you to discover new chapters of our city’s history and immerse yourself in an unforgettable journey through time! The Okolny Castle is a must-visit destination.
The first line of defensive of the Upper Castle, Okolnyi Castle, began its transformation in the early 16th century, when wooden towers were gradually replaced with stone structures. After the National Liberation War under the leadership of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, the aboveground and underground levels of the Jesuit Collegium became an essential part of Okolny Castle’s fortifications.
Today, the Okolnyi Castle operates as a functional part of the Lutsk City Council’s Communal Enterprise «Tourism Development Center».
Open daily: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
